REVIEW
(Ronald Jacobi / Mai 2012)

REVIEW
Looking at the cover artwork I was immediately reminded of the glorious 80ies. Instantly I put it into my greedy and lustful CD player to deflower this virginal CD brutally. And the awaited revelation became hammer hard reality. After the first listening-session I would have bet my ass that this CD had been produced twenty years ago. Totally brilliant Power-/Thrash Metal with tons of fantastic guitar riffs. The songs themselves are very varied and never get boring at all. No senseless beating-orgies. Moreover the vocalist tops it all with his aggressive and perfectly fitting voice. I nearly pissed into my pair of trousers in the face of this belated Bay Area Killer. So if you hail bands like FLOTSAM & JETSAM, TESTAMENT or EXODUS and are into ICED EARTH as well your wishes will be fulfilled here. (Ronald Jacobi / May 2012)

REVIEW
(Charly Kogler / Mai 2012)

REVIEW
By mistake, the canadian RAMPAGE are listed in the Metal Archiv as thrash metal, which is totally misleading because the band uses no influences of this style on their 1997 release „Fear Inside My Head“. Musically the band is pure Heavy Metal, but the guys vary a lot between delicate riffmonsters like the brilliant opener „Dream Stealer“ or „Nightmares“, up to the doomy CANDLEMASS reminiscence „Egyptian Eyes“ and melodic returns into the eighties like ALICE COOPER or FIFTH ANGEL. Singer Pat Mulock, who later refined the vocals on EIDOLON's „Coma Nation“ and „Apostles Of Defiance“, thrilled here for the first time with his versatile and striking voice. Thus every quality-conscious metalhead should grab this varied metal nugget with a lot of eighties patina and great sound without hesitation – provided you will ever have the chance to get your hands on it. (Charly Kogler / May 2012)

IN HIS OWN WORDS: by CHRIS LEWIS (Drums)
The CD „Fear Inside My Head“ was recorded during the early part of 1996. The four members of RAMPAGE at that time were Pat Mulock (vocals), Chris Lewis (drums, vocals), Brian Max (bass, vocals) and Rick Reid (guitars). The CD was mixed during that summer by John Albani of LEE AARON fame. Pat, Rick and I spent time at John's home studio with him mixing the CD and giving him our input over the next month or two.

The title of the CD is fitting as all four members were going through very personal things during 1996. Rick was about to become a father, his first and only. Pat was coming out of a major breakup with a long-time girlfriend. Brian was wrapped up in a family matter (his brother was going through some mental-health issues) and I was coming off major knee surgery. I was also dealing with my own family issue. My sister was ill and almost lost her life in the summer of 1996. She contracted a very rare blood disease and was in a coma for a while. She eventually came out of it and recovered (and is doing well to this day) but 1996 was indeed a tumultuous time for the band. Hence, the title of the CD just seemed to fit perfectly. It was released on February 14th , 1997. I can't recall how many were originally pressed. It was a small number though, perhaps 1000 maximum.

After the CD was released, we decided to add another guitarist as our music required it for live performances. We enter Tyson Fenech. We began to write new music in order to make another Cd. During this time however, Brian Max left the band unexpectedly and in some haste. He left without warning or even a phone call. A bizarre turn of events indeed...needless to say RAMPAGE never did get signed to a record deal. We came close with a few US labels and one from Japan as well but nothing panned out in the end. The band was for all intents and purposes disbanded by 2004.
